Two hybrid mattresses can use different foams, coil gauges, layer thicknesses and reinforcement. Usage also varies dramatically between a single light sleeper and two heavier adults.
Body impressions and softening
Foam comfort layers gradually soften with use. A visible impression is not always a covered warranty defect; warranty terms typically specify an impression depth and require proper support underneath the mattress.
Coils
Coil gauge, tempering, count, layout and load all influence durability. A higher count alone does not prove longer life.
Foundation support
An unsuitable base can increase stress on the mattress and may affect warranty coverage. Follow the manufacturer's requirements for slat spacing, center support and foundation type.
Rotation and care
If the manufacturer allows rotation, periodically switching head and foot can help distribute wear. Do not flip a one-sided mattress unless the manufacturer specifically says it is flippable.
